The University of Hawaii at Hilo cross country’s season started this past weekend with the men finishing second and women third at the Chaminade Invitational held in Laie, Oahu.
Jordan Theurkauf led the men’s squad with a 28:05 (6th) in the 8K race. Joey D’Amato finished 10th (28:31) followed by Johan Dana (12th, 28:33), Silas Canary (13th, 28:41), Paul Moth (15th, 28:52), Jeff Orchard (16th, 29:08) and Ikaika Ho (18th, 29:25).
Colleen Cassidy finished in 5th place to lead the women in a 5K race. Right behind her 19:48 time was Lara Bachmeier (6th, 20:00). Rounding out the scoring were Laura Hernandez (9th, 20:53), Martha Kawasaki (30th, 22:34) and Nicole Sechrist (41st, 25:20).
