Golf 16th at Hawaii/Turtle Bay Intercollegiate

Laie, Hawaii – The University of Hawaii at Hilo golf team finished in 16th place at the University of Hawaii/Turtle Bay Intercollegiate played at the Links at Turtle Bay Resort.

The Vulcans pulled together a 908 in the 54-hole event on the 7,199-yard Arnold Palmer Course and the 6,535-yard George Fazio Course. Both played a 72-par.

Host Hawaii won the team event with an 862. They were followed by UNLV (865), UC Riverside (866), San Diego (876), Central Oklahoma and Santa Clara (878), St. Mary's (879), Virginia (884), Oregon State (884), Tulane and Washington State (889), Idaho (892), Weber State (899), Cal State Stanislaus (901), Portland (902), Hawaii Hilo (908), Hawaii-B (910), Osaka Gakuin (911) and San Francisco (945).

Nick Mason finished in a tie for 26th place with a five-over, 221 (74-72-75). Garrett Okamura was tied for 43rd place with an eight-over 224 (74-69-81). Colin Gilliam shot a 13-over, 229 (84-72-73) for a tie in 69th place while Richard Garcia shot a 239 (80-73-86) for 98th place and Troy Higashiyama a 242 (81-77-84) for 103rd place.

Other Vulcans competing in individual play were Tysen Shinaut (T55, 78-72-76=226), Kevin Shimomura (T575, 77-72-78=227), Steven Dales (T77, 74-78-79=231) and Kellan Anderson (102, 83-76-82=241).
