A fast 14-0 start turned into a steady game for the University of Hawaii at Hilo as they beat Chaminade University in their non-conference season opener 78-52 at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.
“We let down and started to play easy,” UHH guard
Hina Kimitete said. “Our mentality wasn’t there and we took them lightly.
“We didn’t finish as focused as we did when we started.”
Kimitete finished with 11 points while
Jessica Hanato had a team-high 14 points.
Amanda Adams added 13 points.
Hanato led the Vulcans’ 66-40 rebounding advantage with 10 caroms.
