Hilo, Hawaii – The University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball team had success in their first comeback try but not in their second as they split a doubleheader with Patten University, 8-6 and 5-9, at Wong Stadium.
The Vulcans (6-7) trailed 6-4 in the bottom of the sixth of game one when they took advantage of two Lion (2-18) errors to score four runs.
A.J. Satele's two-run single tied the game.
Dayne Ogawa then followed with another RBI single and moved to second on an error. Ogawa then scored on
T.J. Brown's mishandled grounder.
"The disappointing part all day was we had to come from behind,"
UHH head coach Joey Estrella said. "We've got to ask our pitchers to give us a chance early in the game to get a lead and take less pressure off of them. We've got to ask our starting pitchers to come in and hopefully try to dominate."
Vulcan starter
Jesse Moon lasted four innings giving up five runs on six hits and three walks with two strikeouts.
Casey Koizumi came in for a pair of innings and held the Lions to a run on three hits to pick up his first collegiate victory.

Ogawa led the Vulcans at the plate with three hits in four at bats.
Keoni Manago was 2 for 2 at the plate.
"I thought we swung the bat well even it the second game," Estrella said. "We hit the ball hard just at people.
"We just got to try to put it all together."
