Davis Solid Once Again

Spokane, Wash. – Joe Davis had another solid performance on the mound for the University of Hawaii at Hilo before the University of Washington took a lead en route to a 5-0 victory over the Vulcans.

Davis kept the Huskies off the board by spacing out two hits over 6.1 innings while striking out three and walking two. Then the Huskies tagged the right-hander for three runs on three hits.

"He pitched well," UHH head coach Joey Estrella said. "Those were pretty good pitches but the ball kind of flies out of here."

Christian Stephenson finished up the game giving up two runs on two hits.

Other than the challenge on the playing field, the Vulcans also face the challenges of the Great Northwest weather and the absence of the team's leading hitter.

"We just arrived last night and it's cold," Estrella said. "It was real clear today and the sun was out but it's still cold.

"Mike Higa was sick and didn't play at all. I think that had to be a little problem."

The Vulcans managed just four hits which included a double by Ronel Trias.
