Hilo, Hawaii –
A.J. Satele and
Ronel Trias continued to feast on University of Alabama-Birmingham pitching as they combined for four of the Vulcans' six hits as the University of Hawaii at Hilo fell 11-3.
Satele was 6 for 8 in yesterday's doubleheader. He went 2 for 4 in today's game. That performance raised hit batting average from .185 to .333.
"I'm just trying to live every pitch one at a time," Satele said. "That's what my mom told me the last time at Manoa when I was stressing out. Live in the moment in the pitch and try to not think too much at the plate.
"I told the guys you never know how long you're going to play. This is my senior year. I'm just trying to have fun with the boys."
Trias was 7 for 10 at the plate with five runs scored in the series. His batting average rose from .259 to .378.
The duo combined to put the Vulcans (5-6) on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Trias walked and moved to third on consecutive ground outs. Satele singled to left center to give the Vulcans a 1-0 lead.
The Blazers (6-7) would get six unanswered runs before
Michael Higa scored on the back end of a sixth inning double play.
The Trias/Satele connection gave the Vulcans their final run of the game in the eighth as Trias again walked and moved to third. He then scored on a grounder by Satele.
