Waipahu, Hawaii – The University of Hawaii at Hilo baseball team scored five runs in the final two innings of game one for the 6-4 decision over Hawaii Pacific University before going cold in the nightcap and falling 14-2 at Hans L'Orange Field.
The Vulcans (13-17) took a 3-1 lead in the seventh inning on
Keoni Manago's RBI single and a bases loaded error. The Sea Warriors answered with two runs of their own in the seventh.
With the bases loaded in the eighth, Manago's double down the left field line was the difference as it cleared the bases for the Vulcans victory.
Manago,
T.J. Brown and
Peter Rodgers paired hits for the Vulcans.
Clayton Uyechi (2-1) picked up the win giving up three runs on four hits through seven innings while striking out eight.
Emil DeAndreis picked up the save.
The Vulcans got off to another quick start in game two with a pair of runs in the first inning. The first came on double play while
Dayne Ogawa singled in a run.
But as the Sea Warriors (26-14-1) were able to push runs across, the Vulcans stranded runners in scoring position…seven in all.
