The University of Hawaii at Hilo beat Brigham Young University-Hawaii 59-57 in a non-conference game in the Canon Activities Center in Laie, Hawaii.

The Vulcans improved to 6-3 overall while the Seasiders are 4-6.

The Vulcans saw their 7-point lead with 3:02 remaining in the game disappear as the Seasiders went on a 9-2 run that knotted the game at 57 with 22 seconds remaining.

The Seasiders gained ball possession off of a missed free throw but couldn’t hold on to it as the Vulcans regained possession with eight seconds remaining.

Jessica Hanato took a pass from Amanda Adams and scored the game winner.

Ashley Kualii led the Vulcans with 18 points and six assists. Hina Kimitete added 15 points while Adams had 13.
