The University of Hawaii at Hilo used a pair of big innings to sweep Grand Canyon University in a Pacific West Conference doubleheader played at Brazell Stadium in Phoenix, Ariz.

With the 9-4 and 8-6 victories, the Vulcans improve to 15-13 overall and 6-8 in the PWC while the Antelopes drop to 11-22 overall and 5-9 in the PWC.

The first game was tied at three until the ninth inning when the Vulcans put together six hits with three Antelope errors to score six runs.

#Shane Kessel# led the Vulcans with a 3-hit, 3-RBI performance. #Matt Haasenritter# also tallied three hits including two doubles. #Keoni Manago# and #Gary Jones# collected two hits each.

#Tyler Simao# got the start and held the Antelopes to three runs on six hits while striking out two but didn't figure in the decision. #Kurtis Sherer# got the win in relief pitching the final two innings and gave up a run on two hits and two walks.

With the aid of a walk, an error and a hit batter, the Vulcans put up five runs in the fifth inning of game two on three hits to turn a 3-run deficit into a 7-5 lead.

#Thomas Brown III's# seventh-inning homerun provided an insurance run.

Brown and Jones paired hits for the Vulcans while Haasenritter picked up his 10 double of the season.

#Clayton Uyechi# (3-1) got the win with a 6-run, 5-hit performance over 5.1 innings. #Christian Stephenson# picked up his second save of the season closing out the Antelopes on one hit over the final 1.2 innings.
