Rally comes up short

The University of Hawaii at Hilo's eighth-inning rally came up short as the Vulcans dropped the final game of a 5-game series with Dixie State College 5-4 in today's non-Pacific West Conference game at Wong Stadium.

The Vulcans are 18-17 overall while the Red Storm is 24-17. The Vulcans won the series 3-2.

#Ronel Trias# had three of the Vulcans' eight hits.

#Jeff Jones# came in relief for #Phil Hackney# (0-1) and gave up just one run on one hit over 1.2 innings. #Kurtis Sherer# finished the final two innings giving up two hits and a walk while striking out one.

Trailing 5-0, the Vulcans mounted a rally in the eighth inning with four runs on four hits.
