They got hits but couldn't push across the runs as the University of Hawaii at Hilo dropped their season opening Pacific West Conference doubleheader to Hawaii Pacific University 8-1 and 4-2 (9) at Wong Stadium in Hilo.
"We just didn't play very well the whole day," said #UHH head coach Joey Estrella#. "I don't know if we're trying too hard, not trying hard enough or not executing but we have to play a lot better than these two games. When you have a chance to win it in your half of the inning, you've got to do it. We didn't take advantage of any opportunities they gave us.
"We just didn't have it tonight. We're hoping to come back tomorrow."
The Vulcans are 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the PacWest while the Sea Warriors are 2-0 overall and 2-0 in the PacWest.
