The University of Hawaii at Hilo belted out 10 hits in an 11-8 loss to Dixie State College in a non-Pacific West Conference game at the Bruce Hurst Field in St. George, Utah.
The Vulcans are 5-16 overall while the Red Storm is 17-9.
#Shane Kessel# led the way with a 3-for-4, 2 RBI game. #Kekoa Lee# was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
"We got out-slugged today," said #UHH head coach Joey Estrella#. "They play very well in their ball park, they knew what to do. They have the kind of hitters who are students of their park.
"We started to hit but it just wasn't enough. We're disappointed yet still upbeat."
The Vulcans got off to a 4-0 lead in the first inning on three hits and a Dixie error. After the Red Storm came back with a pair of runs, Kessel slugged a solo homerun to give the Vulcans a 5-1 lead.
The Vulcans manufactured two runs in the third on two hits and a error then added another run in the fourth on Lee's RBI double.
