Another torrid day by #Keoni Manago# at the plate and the reigning Pacific West Conference player of the year raised his batting average to .408 and led the University of Hawaii at Hilo to a Pacific West Conference doubleheader sweep of the Academy of Art University on the Contra Costa College field in San Pablo, Calif.
With the 15-14 and 11-1 victories, the Vulcans improved to 9-19 overall and 5-13 in the PacWest while the Urban Knights fall to 2-25 overall and 2-15 in the PacWest.
Manago had 7 hits in 10 at bats on the day with seven RBI. He was 4 for 5 with 6 RBI in game one and 3-for-5 with one RBI in the follow-up game.
He wasn't alone in the groove as #Kekoa Lee# picked up four first game hits. #Arlie Johnson# added three hits and two RBI while #Joshua Wong# had a pair hits in the same game. In all, they tallied 18 hits.
The Vulcans banged out 13 hits in the second game with Wong and #David Keller# both posting three hits and two RBI while #Cade Uyetake# added a pair of hits.
"I was really pleased with the way we were swinging the bat," said #UHH head coach Joey Estrella#. "It was also frustrating getting out to a 9-0 lead and then trailing in the seventh inning."
#Chris Pascual# picked up his first collegiate victory with a complete-game, 4-hit performance in the second game. He walked five and struck out six.
"Chris pitched a gem," said Estrella. "He pitched like the player we knew that he could be."
