Big innings were the University of Hawaii at Hilo's downfall as they dropped a Pacific West Conference twinbill to Hawaii Pacific University, 9-3 and 8-7, on the Hans L'Orange Field in Waipahu, HI.

The Vulcans are 15-24 overall and 10-18 in the PacWest while the Sea Warriors are 32-10 overall and 24-4 in the PacWest.

In the first game, the Vulcans gave up six runs on five and an error in the first inning. After that stanza, Vulcan pitching held the Sea Warriors to three runs on five hits.

The Vulcans answered in the second with three runs on four hits with #Shane Kessel's# lead-off homerun starting the scoring. #Kekoa Lee# and #Cody Barrett# followed with singles. After a pass ball, Lee scored on #TJ Pilla's# deep fly ball while Barrett scored on #John Hoffman's# single.

Lee was the only Vulcan to pair hits.

The Vulcans held a 7-4 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning in game two before giving up four runs on five hits.

#Aaron Correa# had a 4-hitter going before leaving the game after the sixth inning. He gave up five walks but struck out four.

Lee, #Keoni Manago# and #Jeff Hanna# paired hits for the Vulcans.
