Hall and Russell continue solid play

Vulcans claim Rose Championship

Jamie Hall and Travis Russell went 1-2 to lead the University of Hawaii at Hilo to the 6th Annual Dennis Rose Invitational Championship on the Waikoloa Kings' Golf Course.

Hall became the first Vulcan to turn in three sub-par scores for a tournament with rounds of 70-70-69 to finish at 7-under-par 209. Russell opened with a tournament best 67 in the first round and finished at 212 (67-75-70).

The Vulcans finished the team race with an 864 followed by Grand Canyon (872), Sonoma State (876), Saint Martin's and Cal State Monterey Bay (890), Cal State East Bay (894), Hawaii Pacific (901), BYU-Hawaii (913) and Academy of Art (926).

Dalen Yamauchi finished in a tie for 7th place with rounds of 73-73-71 for a 217. Blake Snyder (76-74-79) and Chris Shimomura (75-77-77) were tied for 35th place at 229.

Competing as individuals were Christina Agosto (14th, 76-74-69=219), Corey Kozuma (T19, 72-79-73=224), Kelii Dias (T28, 76-76-75=227), Nick Matsushima (T41, 74-81-77=232), Blaine Fujimoto (46th, 78-75-81=234) and Ric Yamamoto (T49, 79-80-77=236).
