Vulcans answer rally

[Game 1]     [Game 2]

The University of Hawaii at Hilo proved they could answer an opponent's rally with one of their own as they split a twinbill with Patten University at Wong Stadium.

The Lions (7-8) won the first game 6-5 while the Vulcans rebounded in the second game 3-2.

In the first game, the Vulcans (2-1) saw a 5-3 lead disappear as the Lions (7-8) scored three runs in the top of the seventh.

Steven Riddle and Zachary Hamasaki led the Vulcans with two hits each.

The second game was a near repeat as the Lions rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the 2-1 lead.

This time around the Vulcans came roaring back.

Brian Patterson was hit by a pitch to start the inning and then stole second. With one out, Keoni Manago laced a triple to the right field corner to tie the game. After a walk, Jonathan Jamison dropped a blooper into right center for the winning run.

Dan Hennigs picked up the win by facing one batter. Aaron Correa started the game and struck out seven during his 5-hit, one-walk performance.
