Seventh inning split

[Game 1]     [Game 2]

It was all or nothing seventh innings for the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Patten University in a double-header split at Wong Stadium.

The Patten Lions won the first game 7-0 while the Vulcans came back to win the second game 7-6.

In the second game, the Vulcans (3-2) trailed 6-4 entering the final frame. With the bases loaded and one out, David Keller was hit by a pitch to push across a run. Bryan Patterson followed with an infield ground out that tied the game. Cade Uyetake took the ball four to once again load the bases for Keoni Manago who already was 3 for 4 with an RBI.

Manago's shot to the right side was knocked down by Lion firstbaseman Zach Plancich. But the infielder couldn't find the ball in time to catch Manago at first as Jonathan James crossed the plate with the winning run.

Manago was 3 for 5 with an RBI while Kekoa Lee and James picked up two hits each.

Dane Kinoshita, Casey Koizumi, Chris Pascual and Richie Mariano combined for the four-hit, 11-strikeout win. Mariano picked up the victory. Pascual struck out seven in 3.1 innings of work.

The Vulcans trailed 1-0 in the top of the seventh in game one when the Lions(8-9) took advantage of five walks, a hit batter, an error and one hit to tally six runs.

Tyler Simao, Sheldon Otsuka, Jeff Jones and Seamus Yoneshige combined to hold the Lions to seven hits and seven walks while striking out three.
