The University of Hawaii at Hilo opened a five-game series with Grand Canyon University with a doubleheader sweep of Pacific West Conference games at Wong Stadium.

The Vulcans (5-2 overall, 2-0 PacWest) won the games 2-0 and 9-8.
"We feel that if we can continue to put pressure on any team we play good things will come our way," said UHH Head Coach Joey Estrella. "If we can continue to swing the bat and make them field it, hopefully good things will happen."
Kekoa Lee and Bryan Raines combined on the five-hit shutout in game one. Lee (2-0) picked up the win giving up four hits and four walks over 7.0 innings while striking out six. Raines picked up his second save of the season with a one-hit, one-walk performance over the final two innings.
In the fifth, Keoni Manago got on board with a walk, moved to second on a wild pitch then scored on a fielding error. In the seventh, Zachary Hamasaki reached first on a two-out walk then moved to third on a wild pitch. He scored on Daniel Hennigs' single.
Johnathan James led the Vulcans's offense with two hits in each game.
In game two, the Vulcans took advantage of six Antelope errors to score seven unearned runs.
The first inning produced two runs on two hits with two Antelope errors. An error produced one run without a hit in the second frame.
Singles by Lee, James and Daniel Reitz produced a run in the third. In the fourth, a bases-loaded walk and a bases-loaded error help produce five runs on four hits with two Antelope errors.
Dane Kinoshita picked up the win in relief of Aaron Correa. Chris Pascual picked up a save with 2.2 innings of relief in which he gave up two hits and struck out three.
