The Vulcans won the second game 7-5 with a 3-run 7th-inning rally.
"We played a lot better as a team," said UHH Head Coach Joey Estrella. "Hopefully, when we get back to Hilo we'll be better."
Simao faced 26 batters in his 7-inning performance walking one and striking out five.
The Vulcans (10-15, overall, 7-10 PacWest) put runs on the board quickly with first-inning RBI singles by Kekoa Lee and Steven Riddle. Lee picked another pair of RBI with a single in a 5-run fifth inning and a fourth with a single in the fifth.
Lee finished with four hits in five at bats with four RBI. Riddle and Keoni Manago also had multiple-hit games with two each.
Tied at four each in the second game, the Vulcans used a pair of lead-off walks and Jonathan James' double to post the game-winning runs. James' double pushed across the first run and placed runners on second and third. The second run scored on Dan Hennigs' grounder to short while the third scored on Riddle's sacrifice fly.
James was 3 for 4 with four RBI to lead the Vulcans.
