Today's doubleheader sweep of Academy of Art University has put the University of Hawaii at Hilo in a third-place tie with Grand Canyon University in the final tally of Pacific West Conference games.

The Vulcans (21-25 overall, 16-16 PacWest) took the four-game series with today's scores of 8-3 and 7-1.

Ronnie Loeffler was the first of a 3-pitcher rotation which held the Urban Knights (6-42, 6-25) to four hits. Loeffler pitched 7.0 innings giving up a run on a pair of hits and walks while striking out six. Jeff Jones gave up a hit in one inning while Sheldon Otsuka closed the game giving up two runs on a hit and two walks.

Joshua Wong led the offense with three hits while Keoni Manago added two hits and three RBI. Steven Riddle added two hits.

Dan Hennigs, Dane Kinoshita and Chris Pascual also combined on a 4-hitter in game two. Hennigs gave up a pair of hits and a walk while striking out two over five innings. Kinoshita pitched the sixth inning giving up a run on two hits. Pascual kept the Urban Knights off the bases in the final frame while striking out one.

Manago had another pair of hits while Jonathan James added two hits and three RBI.
