Some signs of promise

UH Hilo Head Coach Joey Estrella

The Vulcans (0-4) dropped the first game 9-8.

The senior right-hander pitched six innings giving up seven hits while striking out three with no walks.

"HPU swung the bat very well," said UH Hilo Head Coach Joey Estrella. "We played a lot better today unfortunately we had a lot more offense last night. We just couldn't hit and we didn't give ourselves many scoring opportunities."

"We're making progress. We're playing better and hopefully we can do some changes and do better this weekend."

Larry Valdes led the Vulcans with a 4-for-4, 3-RBI performance in game one.
