High energy leads to a win

An energized University of Hawaii at Hilo beat Hawaii Pacific University 78-62 in a Pacific West Conference match at the UHH gym.

“Just having energy means so much," UH Hilo Head Coach Jeff Law said. "We came out and had two good starts to two good halves. Guys hit shots and played very good defense. We executed well.”

The Vulcans hit 28-54 shots (52%) from the field and 17-27 shots (63%) from the free throw line. They had 33 rebounds and 14 steals.

Michael Melonas led the Vulcans with 17 points. CJ Brown had 14 points with 8 assists.

“I thought the guys did a good job of doing and taking care of what they could control and getting the win tonight," Law said.
