The University of Hawaii at Hilo women's golf team has captured the 2014 Pacific West Conference Championship.
One-two finishes by
Kristen Sawada and
Jade Salvador vaulted the Vulcans to a 3-stroke victory over California Baptist University. Both earned first-team all-PacWest recognition.
The Vulcans turned in rounds of 312 and 311 to finish at 623. Cal Baptist finished at 626 followed by Academy of Art (644), Point Loma Nazarene (645), Dixie State (664), Hawaii Pacific (697), Dominican (709) and Holy Names (1045).
First-round leader Sawada, who opened her 2013-14 campaign by winning the St. Martin's Invitational, fired a 4-over 76 to give her a 2-round score of 6-over-par 150. Tied on stroke behind her were Salvador (76-75) and Academy of Arts Crystal Wang (76-75).
Earning second-team all-PacWest honors were
Dayna Bersamin and
Kacie Harada. Both shot identical rounds of 81-80 to finish tied for 10
th place at 17-over 161.
Nyssa Aoki completed the squad with a 24-over, 168 (86-82) and tied for 20
th place.

Jim DeMello was selected co-PacWest Coach of the Year.
