KAILUA KONA, Hawai`i--And to think that these two teams will play two more times this year.

For the second time in a week, BYU-Hawaii prevailed in a tight-as-a-drum match over Hawai`i Hilo at the Holua Tennis Center, 5-4. On Wednesday, the Seasiders won a close one over the Vulcans, 6-3.

The Seasiders won a 9-8 match in doubles and also prevailed in a three-set battle in singles to help gain the slight edge.

UHH's No. 1 singles player Vaclav Slezak remained unbeaten on the year (3-0) with his third straight sets win, this time over BYUH's Ibrahim Karadzha, 6-3, 6-1. The Vulcans also got a singles victory at No. 6 when Ryuta Ogawa won 6-4, ret. At No. 3 singles, BYUH's Sterling Galli went three sets to defeat Gregory Zukeran, 6-4, 2-6, 6-0.

UH Hilo carried a 2-1 lead into singles play after a tense doubles round. Slezak and Gregory Zukeran won easily at No. 1 doubles, 8-3, but the other two matches went into a pro set tie-breaker. On court two, Bruno Figlia and Alex Fillat Perez won a marathon match over Guillermo Ucelay Pueyo and Simon Guillin, 9-8 (8-6), but on court three it was BYUH with the thrilling victory over UHH's Daniel Tada and Stefan Coney, 9-8 (7-1). 

The Vulcans and Seasiders will meet again in March on back-to-back days at BYU-Hawaii.

UH Hilo will continue a five matches in six days grind in Kona on Sunday, taking on UC San Diego at 1 pm.
