Eagles continue to roll with win over Vulcans

IRVINE, Calif.--Host Concordia kept its hold on third place in the Pacific West Conference with a 86-51 Monday night win over Hawai`i Hilo at the CU Arena.

It was the fourth straight win for the Eagles, who improved to 14-9 on the season and to 11-6 in conference play. The Vulcans fell to 6-12 on the season and to 4-11 in the PacWest. With the victory, Concordia completed the season sweep over the Vulcans, also winning 61-51 in December in Hilo.

UH Hilo scored the first four points of the game on baskets by Allie Navarette, but Concordia quickly answered with back-to-back three-pointers by Kennedy Fulcher and Montana Walters to take a 6-4 lead. As it would turn out, the Eagles would never trail again.

The home team would put 26 points on the board in the first quarter (26-13) and increase their lead going into intermission, 50-29. They held a 69-42 lead at the end of three quarters before penciling in the 86-51 final.

Navarette led the Vulcans with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. Danielle Dacosta added 12 points, six boards and three assists. Patience Taylor was also in double figures with 10 points.

Fulcher led Concordia with 21 points, hitting seven-of-eight shots from the field and six-of-six from the free throw line. Walters added 19 points and six assists.

UH Hilo continues a stretch of five games in eight days with a visit to California Baptist on Tuesday night.
