Two pitchers are the honorees of this week's Hawai`i Hilo Pepsi Athletes of the Week.

Sophomore pitcher Leah Gonzales stepped up during one of her team's busiest weekends of the year at the Tournament of Champions. She pitched a complete-game victory over CCAA favorite Cal State Monterey Bay, and she had four or more innings of shutout relief work each against Western Washington and Cal State San Bernardino--giving up just two hits in both games. For the long weekend, the Wilmington, Calif. native pitched a total of 18 innings, giving up just three earned runs while striking out 11.

Freshman Kyle Alcorn was masterful again during a 2-1 win over Fresno Pacific on Saturday. The Lakewood, Calif. native didn't give up an earned run in 7.1 innings of work in picking up his second win of the season (2-0), scattering four hits with one walk and three strikeouts. On the season, the crafty left-hander has an ERA of 1.85 and opponents are hitting just .189 against him. Last week, he was named the PacWest Freshman of the Week for his work during a win over then-No. 11 nationally ranked California Baptist.
