2019 Vulcan baseball schedule is here

The 2019 Hawai`i Hilo baseball schedule features 48 games, two exhibitions, 22 home games and 14 home dates.

Additionally, the Vulcans have the luxury of playing 14 of their first 18 games at home in the friendly and unique confines of Wong Stadium in Hilo.

Coach Kal Miyataki's team will jump right into the fire on Friday, February 8 with a Pacific West Conference doubleheader against their oldest rival, Hawai`i Pacific (3 pm start time). In fact, the Vulcans and Sharks will square off in a 10-game series to begin the year, with the first six games played in Hilo (Feb. 8-10) and the following four in Waipahu (Feb. 16-17). Only the first two games of the series will be conference counters. In April, the two clubs will face off again four times on Oahu, with two of the games slated as PacWest contests.

The annual Alumni game is set for Saturday, February 23. Other home series opponents include Biola (Feb. 28-March 1), Fresno Pacific (March 7-9), Academy of Art (March 29-30) and Holy Names (April 20, 22).

The Vulcans will play an exhibition game at Hope International (March 14) in Fullerton, Calif., and will play road series at Concordia (March 16, 18), Azusa Pacific (March 21-23) and Point Loma (April 26-27). UH Hilo will wrap up the year with a four-game series at Biola, which will go down as non-conference games. The Vulcans and Eagles will have met earlier in the season in Hilo for their PWC match-ups.

32 of UHH's 48 contests will be conference games. The Pacific West Conference is now a 12-team league, with California Baptist moving to Division I and Dixie State opting for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Vulcans finished 21-27 in 2018, their best mark since 2011.
