SAN DIEGO, Calif.—The Hawai`i Hilo women's soccer team has been very good on defense this year, recently having only given up two goals in their last seven matches.
Today, at the PLNU Soccer Field overlooking the Pacific Ocean, that run came to a halt against the defending conference champion Point Loma.
The PacWest Conference leading Point Loma Sea Lions scored twice in a two minute span in the first half and
their defense did the rest on the way to a 3-0 win over the visiting Vulcans. Point Loma improved to 7-0-1 in the PacWest and to 10-4-1 overall, while the Vulcans dropped to 3-6-4 overall and to 2-3-2 in league play.

Bailey Cahill. Just two minutes later, Julia Glasser headed in a shot off a cross, knocking in her ninth goal of the season.
The Vulcans had a few good opportunities in the first half, with six shots overall compared to PLNU's nine. One of their best chances came just eight minutes into the match on a corner kick and shot that was saved by Sea Lions' keeper Emma Hinson.
They had another great chance 15 minutes into the second half on a breakaway but Hinson came out of the box and made an excellent slide stop on
Brende Yoshizumi's attempt.
Point Loma then added all the insurance that they would need with another score in the 75
th minute (74:48) on a counter by Makenna Herrero.
The Vulcans ended the day with eight shots, three of them on goal. The Sea Lions had 15 shots, seven of them on goal.
