Vulcan Games to be Streamed

HILO, Hawai`i--The University of Hawai`i Hilo athletic department and Out of the Sea Media Arts Inc., will team up again this year to video stream Vulcan home games for the men's and women's sports of basketball and soccer, along with volleyball, baseball and softball.

That coverage begins on Saturday, January 16 when the Vulcans host Hawai`i Pacific in a basketball doubleheader. The women will tip-off at 1:30 p.m. and the men at 4:30. Due to COVID-19 guidelines and protocol, no fans will be permitted in attendance. Only participating teams, officials and game management personnel will be in the gym.

The Vulcans will also host the Sharks on Sunday, January 17 at noon and 3 pm.  UH Hilo's first home soccer doubleheader will be on Saturday, February 13.

The video stream includes two-camera shots, replays and play-by-play audio. Out of the Sea Media Arts, Inc. is a local media production company. Vice President Jeff Haun has had a leading role in live streaming and televising UH Hilo Vulcan sports for 14 years.

The cost per game will be $10. Because of the shorter seasons and the possibility of schedules changing during this COVID period, season passes are not available.

Vulcan road games are also available via video stream. Those links will be available on the hiloathletics.com website, taking you to the respective host team's website (and their own pricing).

The link to order a broadcast will be available 24-48 hours before the actual event (but not prior to). To sign up, go to the UH Hilo athletic website at www.hiloathletics.com. At the top of the page, scroll to Schedules and then click on the sport of the game you would like to watch. Click on the "Watch" button next to the game of your choice. Follow the prompts from there.

UH Hilo sports information director Russ Blunck will provide the play-by-play. Blunck is in his fifth year in the UHH athletic department, and previously served as the voice of radio broadcasts and streamed events at Western Oregon University, Point Loma University and Pacific University.
