SAN RAFAEL, Calif.-- Two sudden-victory overtime periods later and neither the Vulcans (3-5-1, 1-3-1 PacWest) nor the Penguins (5-0-2, 0-0-1 PacWest) were able to break through with an additional goal resulting in a 1-1 draw.
UH Hilo scored first in the 18th minute of the first half.
Alexander Hernandez-Herbach recorded his second goal of the season off a nice pass from
Wataru Muto at Kennelly Field.
UHH held the 1-0 lead until the 76th minute when the Penguins' Dylan Finley was able to penetrate the Vulcans' goal. UHH's keeper
Michael Harre played the entire 110 minutes, rallying to keep his team in the game. He tallied up a total of 11 saves, eight of those saves were after the Vulcans' goal and two were in overtime.
Dominican out-shot the Vulcans 25-17, 12 of which were on goal to the UHH's eight.
Luca Lippert led the Red and Black offensively with six shots.
The men's soccer team will return home to prepare for their next home game. Their next match is against Concordia Irvine on Tuesday Oct. 19 at 2:30 p.m. HT.
