HILO, Hawai'i-- The Vulcans had an action packed first half in their 2-1 victory over the Concordia Irvine Eagles.
UHÂ Hilo (4-5-1, 2-3-1 PacWest) scored their two goals over CUI (4-5-2, 2-1-1 PacWest) in the first 20 minutes of the match. Kalei Tolentino-Perry found Luca Lippert in the box who made a sliding kick to push the ball into the Eagles' net. In the 13th minute, Alexander Hernandez-Herbach scored off a pass from Henrique Castilho. Hernandez-Herbach quickly received the ball from Castilho and made his shot to the lower-center of the goal, successfully getting past CUI's goalkeeper.Â
The Eagles continued to push forward, but had no dice against the Vulcans. CUI eventually closed the gap to a one-point game after an Eagle goal in the 80th minute.Â
In the first half UHH out-shot CUI 5-4Â and in the second half CUI out-shot UHH 7-1. Both teams were even with three shots each on goal. Senior goalie Michael Harre had two saves prior to the Eagles goal and did a great job of keeping his team in the match.
UHH plays Biola next on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m. If you are planning on attending the next match, please read the Vulcan spectator policy carefully before attending.
