SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--
Three different Vulcans contributed goals in their 3-0 win over Dominican. The first two were scored in the first half by Daelenn Tokunaga and Alyssa Padron, followed by Filippa Graneld who cashed in their third goal in the second half.

The Vulcans will improve 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the PacWest, while Dominican falls to 2-3-3 and 1-1 in the PacWest.

UHH continued to showcase their confidence near the goal, out-shooting their opponent 16-9. Graneld was today's shot leader with five shots followed by Padron and Christina Kanellou with three each.

In the first scoring play of the match Tokunaga received a ball from Nanea Wall at the back post to tap in for a goal. This was Tokunaga's fifth goal of the week, and she now leads the PacWest with 10 goals, six goals ahead of the closest runners up. Five of Tokunaga's 10 goals are game-winning goals, ranking her first in the PacWest game-winning goal category as well.

Eleven minutes after Tokunaga's goal, Padron sent in a curling shot passed down from Graneld to sink in UH Hilo's second goal. Graneld leads the PacWest in assists, this being her fourth of the season. The Vulcans then entered halftime up 2-0, and came back wanting more...

In the 46th minute, Graneld got a scoring opportunity of her own. Thinking quick on her feet, Graneld deflected a ball that was meant to be cleared off her chest. Then she quickly turned it around to send it back in the Penguins' net for a Vulcan goal, resulting in a 3-0 lead for UHH.

The Red and Black held the Penguins with a mixture of solid defense and great communication. UHH keepers Viviana Poli and Saydee Bacdad shared time in the net, earning a combined shutout. Poli, a wall in the goal, played 75 minutes of the match and secured five saves.

The Vulcans will return home on a four-game winning streak. Next up for them is Concordia Irvine on Tuesday Oct. 19 at 12 p.m. HT.
