LA MIRADA, Calif.-- The women's volleyball team capped their Southern California road trip in the Chase Gymnasium against Biola. The Vulcans (13-4, 10-3 PacWest) fell to the Eagles (14-7, 10-3) in three sets, 25-12, 25-21, 25-17.
Biola was hungry for some revenge after losing a five-set battle to the Vulcans in Hilo. Madison Beebe (Biola) had eight kills in the first match to secure BU's 25-12 first-set win over UHH. The Vulcans almost came back in the second set but came up a couple cents short taking a 25-21 loss. The third frame was another close match in a must-win set for the Vulcans. Samara Cruz led the Vulcans with four kills, but UHH wasn't able to bring it home, resulting in a 17-25 loss.
Bria Beale led UH Hilo with 10 kills followed by Kamilla Marinas and Samara Cruz with seven each. Beale also led on the defensive side with 16 digs and Kendall Kott contributed 25 assists.
The Vulcans will head home and prepare for their last homestand of the 2021 season. UHH plays Academy of Art next on Friday, Nov. 4 at 7pm in the Vulcan Gym. This will be UH Hilo's first volleyball match with fans allowed to attend. Please review the Vulcan Spectator policy before attending the match.
Tickets will be sold for cash only at the entrance. The ticket prices include: $10 for adult general admission, $5 for senior citizens (65+) and $5 for middle/high school students. UH Hilo and HCC students will be admitted free of charge when they show their valid student ID.
