FRESNO, Calif.-- The match was scoreless until the 59th minute where FPU's Fellipe Souza scored a goal to the lower right corner of the Vulcans' goal. The Sunbirds' lone goal ended up being the deciding factor of the contest that led to their 1-0 victory over UH Hilo at Ramirez Field.

Fresno Pacific will improve 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the PacWest, while the Vulcans fall 2-5 overall and 0-3 in conference.Â

Fresno Pacific out-shot UH Hilo 14-11, but UHH had more shots on goal, outshooting FPU 7-4. The Vulcan shot leaders were
David Mayser with three shots, followed by
Luca Lippert,
Tom Vorkastner, and
Alexander Hernandez-Herbach with two each.Â

The Sunbirds played physically aggressive, getting penalized with four yellow cards and one red. They also had 12 fouls to UH Hilo's eight.Â

Michael Harre played the entire 90 minutes in the goal, adding up two saves.Â

UHH will continue their NorCal road trip. Their next match is against Academy of Art which will take place Friday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m. PT.
