IRVINE, Calif.-- Graduate studentÂ
Bria Beale was selected for First Team All-Pacific West Conference, which was announced today by the league office.
This is Beale's fourth time receiving this honor. She is one of a select few who have been chosen for First Team All-PacWest for four consecutive years, only ten other athletes have accomplished this feat in the PacWest's history.Â
Beale ended her career
Saturday, Nov. 20 against Hawaii Pacific and leaves the Vulcans with several accolades. In the UH Hilo career record books she is second all-time in kills with 1,311, third in digs with 1,206, and fifth in service aces totaling 112. Beale is the second Vulcan ever (behind Tanya Fuamatu in 1992-95) to have 1,000 kills, 1,000 digs, and 100 aces.
Over her career at UH Hilo Beale was a two-time captain and selected for the All-PacWest Hawaii Pod Team (2020) and First-Team All-D2CCAA All-West Region in 2019. She was a three-time pick for the CoSIDA All-West Region Academic team and a three-time All-PacWest Scholar Athlete. Beale is also the first Vulcan ever to be a
semifinalist for NCAA Woman of the Year.
Needless to say Beale has had an outstanding career, leaving her mark on the volleyball program. Not only is she a stud on the court, in the classroom, and in the Hilo community, she was apart of a core group that shifted the volleyball program's team culture led by head coach
Chris Leonard. And although Beale will be missed in the Vulcan Gym, she has endless possibilities for her future. Â
