Vulcans End Short Season with Tie

Box Score HONOLULU, Hawai`i--The final action of the 2021 spring season of men's soccer action for Hawaii Hilo and Hawaii Pacific ended up being a little short of offensive action as the teams settled for a 0-0 tie at St. Louis Field. As per the Pacific West Conference spring rule, no overtime was played.

The defensive standout ends the Vulcans' season at 1-1-2, while the Hawaii Pod Champion Sharks had their first non-winning game to wrap up at 3-0-1.

Freshman Christian Souza and Michael Harre combined for the shutout in the goal for the Vulcans. Souza had two saves in 33 minutes and Harre got his first work of the spring (57 minutes) and had a save.

Jeremy Zielinski had a shutout for the Sharks with one save.

Both teams struggled to get good offensive attempts. UH HIlo had just four shots in the game, only one of them on goal. The Sharks had eight shots, three of which had to be saved.

Harre saved a shot with three minutes left, and HPU had one opportunity with just ten seconds left on the clock with a corner kick, but the Vulcan defense cleared to end the match.

For the spring Hawaii Pod schedule, HPU was 3-0-1, UHH 1-1-2 and Chaminade was 0-3-1.
