The UH Hilo men's soccer team had four players named to the Hawaii Pod All-Pacific West Conference team, selected by the conference coaches and announced today by the PacWest office.

Kaleihalia Tolentino-Perry, Luca Lippert, Caesar Hjerten and Christian Souza were voted into the 13-player team, which also included players from Chaminade and Hawaii Pacific. 

All-Pod teams were also selected for the Northern California Pod and the Southern California Pod. Overall, for all three pods, Point Loma had the Defender of the Year (Matthew Abangan), the Goalkeeper of the Year (Ryan Pierce) and the Coach of the Year (Phil Wolf). Felipe Souza of Fresno Pacific was selected as the Player of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year is Gilly Miller of Academy of Art.

Kaleihalia Tolentino-Perry started every spring match for the Vulcans and led the his team in minutes played with 328. After transferring from San Jose State in 2019, he led the Vulcans that Fall in shots (51). Newcomer Luca Lippert (Langen, Germany) started all four matches this spring and led the Vulcans in shots with seven. The Northern Michigan transfer scored a goal in the season opener versus Chaminade.

Defender Caesar Hjerten started every spring match and was also a starter in 2019 after transferring from Union College. He was second on the Vulcan team this year in minutes played with 322. Freshman goalkeeper Christian Souza, who stepped into the line-up when 2019 starter Michael Harre was injured, gave up just three goals in four matches for a 0.833 GAA. He had 14 saves in the short season.

The Vulcans finished 1-1-2 in the spring season, with a loss (1-0) and a tie (0-0) against Hawaii Pacific, and had a win (4-1) and a tie (1-1) versus Chaminade.
