The UH Hilo women's soccer team has four players on the All-Hawaii Pod Pacific West Conference team, voted on my coaches and announced today by the league office.
Jodi Lillie, Nanea Wall, Christy Jensen, Christina Kanellou were all selected to the 13-player team. The squad is made up of players from UHH, Chaminade and HPU.
Lillie, who was a First Team All-PacWest selection as a freshman in 2018 and a Second-Team choice in 2019, led the Vulcans this spring with two goals. She scored both of those in the second half of Sunday's spring season finale, rallying UHH from a 2-0 deficit to a 2-2 tie. Playing the past two seasons as a defender, she has moved to the midfield this year.
Wall, who was UHH's leading scorer in 2019 as a freshman, started every match this spring and scored a goal in the season opener against Chaminade. Jensen started every match this year at a defender slot, helping the Vulcans to a 1.25 goals against average. Kanellou started every match as well and scored in the season opener versus the Silverswords.
The Vulcans finished 0-0-4 in the spring season, tying Chaminade twice (2-2 and 1-1) and deadlocking with HPU twice (0-0 and 2-2).
All Pod teams were also chosen for Northern California and Southern California. Overall, covering all three Pods, Chaminade's Randi Fontes was chosen as Player of the Year and the Silverswords also had the Newcomer of the Year in Hoku Schatz and Coach of the Year in Michelle Richardson. Point Loma claimed the Defender of the Year (Lauren O'Malley) and the Goalkeeper of the Year (Emma Hinson).
