FRESNO, Calif.--The UH Hilo women's tennis team wrapped up their trip to northern and central California on a somber note with a 4-0 loss to Fresno Pacific.

The No. 18 ranked Sunbirds improved to 3-6 on the season while the No. 25 Vulcans fell to 4-3.

The match got a late start because of rain in Fresno, and the match was played to clinch because of the potential of more rain.

The Sunbirds, whose record is deceiving with four of their losses coming to Division I foes, won the doubles point and took victories in singles on courts one, two and five. All the victories were in straight sets. In the unfinished singles matches, UHH's Hikari Osaki lost the first set but was ahead in the second (3-2) at No. 3 singles. On court four, Carmelle Joyner won the first set 6-2, and was down in the second 5-3 when the team match ended.

The Vulcans will now return to Hilo and get ready for a projected trip to Oahu for matches in early April before heading to the Pacific West Conference Championships in Surprise, Arizona, April 21-23.
