UHH Softball and Baseball Games to be Streamed

HILO, Hawai`i--The University of Hawai`i Hilo athletic department and Out of the Sea Media Arts Inc., will continue to video stream Vulcan home events this spring, with softball and baseball next on the docket.

Softball coverage begins this Saturday, March 13 when the Vulcans host Hawai`i Pacific in a doubleheader. First pitch is at 1 pm, with the second game of the doubleheader slated to start around 3:30 pm. The Sharks and Vulcans will play games three and four of the series on Sunday, starting at noon. Due to COVID-19 guidelines and protocol, no fans will be permitted in attendance at the Walter Victor Softball Complex. Only participating teams, officials and game management personnel will be at the field.

Baseball coverage will begin the following weekend (March 20-21) when the Vulcans host Hawaii Pacific.

The video stream includes two-camera shots, replays and play-by-play audio. Out of the Sea Media Arts, Inc. is a local media production company. Vice President Jeff Haun has had a leading role in live streaming and televising UH Hilo Vulcan sports for 14 years.

The cost per game for softball is $7.50. If you purchase the first game of a doubleheader and want to watch the second game, you will receive, via email, a 50% discount code for the second game.  Because of the shorter season, the possibility of rain outs or COVID-related cancellations or postponements, season passes will not available for softball or baseball.

The cost for baseball games will be $10 for the first game and $5 for the second, with the same procedure in place as for softball.

Vulcan road games are also available via video stream. Those links will be available on the hiloathletics.com website, taking you to the respective host team's website (and their own pricing).

The link to order a broadcast will be available 24-48 hours before the actual event (but not prior to). To sign up, go to the UH Hilo athletic website at www.hiloathletics.com. At the top of the page, scroll to Schedules and then click on the sport of the game you would like to watch. Click on the "Watch" button next to the game of your choice. Follow the prompts from there.

UH Hilo sports information director Russ Blunck will provide the play-by-play. Blunck is in his fifth year in the UHH athletic department, and previously served as the voice of radio broadcasts and streamed events at Western Oregon University, Point Loma University and Pacific University.
