CORAL SPRING, Florida--UH Hilo golfers Kaelyn Uchida and Tori Hironaga have been named to the WGCA All-American Scholars Team, announced today by the national office.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association has among the strongest criteria among the various coaches groups to qualify. The student-athlete must have a minimum grade point average of 3.50, have been a significant contributor to the team and have completed at least two full semesters at their university.

Both players are local alumni of Waiakea High School in Hilo, and are coached at UHH by Jim DeMello

It's the third award of the kind for Uchida, who will also be a three-time Pacific West Conference Scholar-Athlete when that is announced this week. Uchida carries a 3.81 GPA in her major of Psychology. She was also a PacWest All-Conference selection this year and a PacWest All-Tournament team pick.

Hironaga is a first-year Vulcan that carries a 3.89 GPA through two semesters in her major of Mathematics.

1,432 women's golfers across the country earned the honor at all three levels of the NCAA and the NAIA. To see the complete release, click here.
