A pair of Vulcan transfer had huge weekends and are the first University of Hawai`i Hilo Pepsi Athletes of the Week for the 2021-22 season.

It was quite the debut for Vulcan golfer Keith Ng, who won the first tournament that he ever entered in for UH Hilo. The University of British Columbia transfer shot a final day tally of 68 (4-under par) to take over the lead and cruise to the win by four strokes over defending PacWest champion Keita Okada of host Hawaii Pacific at the HPU Sharks Shootout. Ng shot a 73 on the first day and finished the tournament at -3. The Richmond, BC native had an impressive nine birdies and 22 pars over his 36 holes. He is the first Vulcan to win medalist honors in a tournament since Jared Kinoshita did so during the 2018-19 season at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate.

Hawai`i transfer Daelenn Tokunaga had a monster match to help her team bust out offensively during a 4-0 win over Hawai`i Pacific last weekend. The former Rainbow Wahine scored UH Hilo's first and third goals of the match, and she assisted on the fourth to give her five points on the day. On the season, the junior from Waipahu (Pearl City HS) leads the Vulcans with three goals, an assist and seven total points. Tokunaga made her Vulcan debut last spring, starting in all four matches and scoring a goal.
