David Mayser helped Hawai`i Hilo win its season opener against Chaminade by scoring both goals in the 2-1 overtime victory. He played 58 minutes in the match as the Vulcans came from behind get the win. Chaminade scored the first goal of the match to take a 1-0 lead. Then in the 50th minute, the Vulcans earned a penalty kick, which Mayser took. He scored on that opportunity to tie the match, 1-1. Then in the 94th minute, he scored a golden goal. It was an unassisted goal as Mayser dribbled to the top of the box and then rifled a shot to the lower-right corner of the goal, blasting it past the goalkeeper for the game-winning goal. Those two shots are the only two that Mayser has taken this year. The Munich, Germany native was also named the PacWest Men's Soccer Player of the Week.
