Hilo, Hawai'i– The UH Hilo men's basketball team put up a fight against Point Loma, but were eventually overcome 91-78 in the Golden Gymnasium.
The Vulcans (10-7, 6-4 PacWest Conference) led by as much as 14 points over the Sea Lions (11-8, 7-4 PacWest) before PLNU inched back to make it a one-point game (UHH 39-PLNU 38).
Back-to-back three-pointers by
Max Kunnert and
Donald McHenry extended the Vulcans lead 45-40 in the second half, but the Sea Lions didn't stay down for long.
PLNU pressed on the gas at 14:59 and didn't let up for the remainder of the game. With a little under 15 minutes remaining, Point Loma was in control of the lead and went on to outscore UH Hilo 46-27.

Turnovers…The Vulcans had less turnovers and scored more points off turnovers than the Sea Lions. UHH had 15 to PLNU's 16 and scored 23 points off turnovers while PLNU only scored 18.
From Downtown…The Vulcans outperformed the Sea Lions from beyond the arc. UHH shot 50 percent while PLNU was only at a 37 percent success rate.
