IRVINE, Calif. – The Vulcan women's volleyball team wrapped up its southern California road trip with a loss to Concordia University Irvine in straight sets Saturday evening in Pacific West Conference play at CU Arena.
The Golden Eagles handedly took the opening set by a score of 25-9, but the Vulcans wouldn't go down without a fight as set No. 2 and No. 3 were decided each by just two points.
Kamryn Childs (Syracuse, Utah/Syracuse HS) led Hawai'i Hilo with nine kills, two aces and three blocks.
Samara Cruz (Escondido, Calif./Escondido HS) had a team-high 18 digs as Tani Hoke (Kailua, Hawai'i/Maryknoll School) followed with 17 and Mahina Kenoi (Hilo, Hawai'i/Kamehameha Schools Hawai'i) racking up 12.
Nikki Logan (Huntington Beach, Calif./Edison HS) also totaled nine kills as Emerson Reinke (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley HS) dished out 25 assists to go along with two assists.
What's Next
Hawai'i Hilo fell to 1-7 PacWest (1-13 overall) while Concordia University Irvine improved to 6-3 PacWest, 9-7 overall.
The Vulcans will have a back-to-back two-game slate next weekend on O'ahu to take on Hawai'i Pacific (0-8 PacWest) and Chaminade (8-0 PacWest).
UH Hilo will return to Vulcan Gymnasium for its second home stand of six games starting Oct. 12 against Holy Names.
