OAKLAND, California – The Hawai'i Hilo women's volleyball team opened its four-game northern California road trip with a loss to Holy Names, 14-25, 17-25, 19-25, Friday evening in Pacific West Conference play at the Tobin Gymnasium.
The Vulcans were downed in straight sets, but like always, they put up a tough battle in fighting from a 10-point second-set deficit to rally off six-straight points highlighted by three service aces by Tani Hoke (Kailua, Hawai'i/Maryknoll School).
The junior added three more to set a new career-high of six aces along with tallying her 17th double-digit digs match of the season.
Freshman Imani Lee (Hacienda Heights, California/Glen A. Wilson HS) made her first start of the season and led Hawai'i Hilo with seven points on six kills and two block assists.
As a team, the Vulcans hit -.009 while the Hawks finished at .300.
What's Next
Hawai'i Hilo fell to 2-21 overall, 2-15 PacWest as Holy Names improved to 8-10 in the PacWest (13-14 overall).
The Vulcans will continue on in northern California against Dominican (0-25, 0-17 PacWest) tomorrow, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. local Pacific Time.
The Hawks will host Chaminade next Monday, Nov. 7.
