INDIANAPOLIS--Alessio Demichelis picked up a singles victory for Hawai`i Hilo against West Florida at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Friday morning, but the Argos would grab the team victory to advance to the semifinals, 4-1.

The Vulcans will now play on Saturday morning at 8 am Eastern time against Delta State, who lost to #1 seed Barry (Fla.) earlier today (4-1). #5 seed West Florida will now face Barry for the opportunity to reach Sunday's title match. West Florida improved to 2-0 on the season and the Vulcans are now 1-4.

Demichelis rolled past WFU's Tomas Descarrega, 6-2, 6-3 to keep the Vulcans alive after the Argonauts had won the doubles point and singles matches on courts three and five. Demichelis dropped the first game of each set but rolled from there to pick up his first victory of the young season.

#6 nationally ranked West Florida would get the clincher on court six, while Martin Soukal (court one) and Luca Checchia (court four) had split sets and had just started playing set number three. Their matches were left unfinished.

Earlier, the Argos won the sets on doubles courts two and three to claim the team point. Soukal and Demichelis had a slight lead (4-3) on court one when play was halted.

The ITA National Team Indoor Championships are being played at the UIndy Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Indianapolis. 

Up next for UH Hilo is the Delta State Statesmen, out of Cleveland, Mississippi. The Statesmen are 2-3 on the season, but have a victory over #19 nationally ranked Southwest Baptist. Against Barry earlier today, Delta State won the doubles point but then lost on courts 3-6 during the 4-1 loss.
