LA MIRADA, Calif.--The UH Hilo baseball team made a late lurch for the lead against Biola, but the Eagles were able to hold their ground and come up on top 6-3.
Biola accumulated six runs by the sixth inning, leading the Vulcans 6-0 until the eighth inning where UH Hilo got on the board. The Eagles fell prey to Vulcan pressure, making two errors that led to a two-run eighth inning for UHH (6-2).
The Vulcans would go on to score one more run in the ninth. Mason Campbell was hit by a pitch and then advanced to third off a double by Bradyn Yoshida. Casey Yamauchi then hit a two-out single to score Campbell and advance Yoshida to third (6-3).Â
Biola made a pitching change and got the next out, closing the game 6-3.Â
James Yamasaki got the start for the Vulcans, throwing 5.1 innings where he allowed eight hits and six runs to score while striking out eight batters. Jamieson Hirayama relieved Yamasaki in the sixth, working out of a one-out inning with runners in scoring position.
Jacob Liberta closed the final two innings allowing just one hit while retiring three batters. Â
