Angel Prewitt (Port Orchard, Wash. / South Kitsap HS / Bellevue College / Concordia-Portland/), Softball
The UH Hilo softball team is on a 17-game road trip where they are playing the top teams in the conference including nationally ranked No. 1 Concordia, Azusa Pacific (second in the PacWest Conference) and Biola (third in conference).
After they face the conference's current best, they head off to Stanislaus' Tournament of Champions in Turlock, Calif. where they will play five games against other DII opponents.
Prewitt, a senior from Port Orchard, Wash., led her team's offense the past week batting .438 with seven hits out of 16 at-bats and drove in one RBI. Prewitt's lone RBI was responsible for the Vulcans only run in their 6-1 loss to the NFCA's predicted best team in the nation CUI.
Prewitt was also impressive with her .545 on-base percentage, with four walks and a hit by pitch in addition to her seven hits.
Luca Matheiowetz (Munich, Germany / Robert-Bosch-Fachoberschute School/), Men's Tennis
The UH Hilo men's tennis team just returned home from a significant California road trip where they played seven matches against PacWest opponents including: Azusa Pacific, Biola, Concordia, Point Loma, Holy Names (double header), and Colorado Mesa.
The Vulcans came up 5-2 on the road, winning the last five matches in a row. Matheiowetz was a big part in all of his team's wins going 7-0 in singles.
Matheiowetz was also the only player to win in both of UHH's 5-2 losses against APU and BU.
