INDIANAPOLIS--UH Hilo soccer and academic star Jodie Lillie was one of a few select student-athletes from across the country selected to represent her university in the NCAA Woman of the Year selection process last week.
Now she becomes part of an even smaller select group, moving on as one of just two selections for the NCAA Woman of the Year in the Pacific West Conference. Lillie, a UH Hilo graduate with one more season left of soccer eligibility, joins Academy of Art's Lauryn Henderson (softball) as the representatives from the PacWest.
From over 500 initial submissions, Lillie now is one of 151 conference nominees, including just 39 at the NCAA Division II level.
The next step in the selection process for the Woman of the Year award is the selection committee narrowing the field to a total of 30 candidates; 10 from each division (Division I, II and III). That field of 30 candidates will be announced in September. The final award winners will be announced later in the fall.
